Lions-Vikings game could move to Monday night (AP)The Minnesota Vikings will move their game against Detroit from Sunday to Monday night if the Minnesota Twins and Oakland Athletics go to a fifth game in their first-round baseball playoff series. The Vikings-Lions game is scheduled for Sunday at noon CDT at the Metrodome, but Game 5 of the Twins-A's series would also be Sunday at the Metrodome.
Players share hospital room after wedge collision (AP)St. Louis Rams fullback Paul Smith took himself and Frank Davis of the Detroit Lions out of Sunday's game busting the wedge on a kickoff, then the two shared a hospital room while being evaluated overnight. Davis, a rookie guard, was carted off the field after the play to open the second half. Smith, who played for the Lions last season, eventually walked off while spitting blood.
Rams 41, Lions 34 (AP)With the architect of the "Greatest Show" on the other side of the turf, new St. Louis Rams coach Scott Linehan showed his team can win a shootout, too. The Rams rallied from behind three times, then benefited from an overturned pass interference penalty in the waning seconds to beat Detroit 41-34 on Sunday.
Lions' Davis taken off field on stretcher (AP)Detroit Lions guard Frank Davis was taken off the field on a truck after he injured his neck on the opening kickoff of the second half in Sunday's 41-34 loss to the Rams. Coach Rod Marinelli said the injury did not appear to be serious. Davis was taken to a hospital, but had movement in his arms and legs, Marinelli said.
